Next Tuesday, October 18, the SF Board of Supervisors will vote on an ordinance to prevent false advertising by crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs). The measure would prohibit limited-service pregnancy centers from implying through advertising that they offer counseling or referrals for abortion when, in fact, they do not.
Pregnant women seeking abortions should not be delayed by fake promises and erroneous ads. This ordinance would require limited-service pregnancy centers to be clear about what they provide. San Francisco women need this protection to ensure they receive truthful counseling about her options, including abortion.
The Board of Supervisors needs to hear that we won’t tolerate the CPCs’ deceptive advertising. Please call your city supervisor right now and say yes to the Pregnancy Information Disclosure and Protection Ordinance!
SFMS has submitted a resolution to CMA to advocate for regulations to mandate crisis pregnancy centers to fully disclose what is and is not offered at these clinics, and to refer this issue to the AMA for national action.
